Living In The City: Australia-China Conversations Through Architecture is a digital exhibition focused on architectural project case studies, and the people that designed them. Places have been arranged by latitude to locate the projects, both outbound projects or the work of Australian-based or founded architectural practices in China, as well as the inbound or projects of Chinese or Australian-Chinese property developers in the Australian property market. The 30 project case studies are presented in pairs and survey modes of architectural practice to create contextual relationships. The 15 pairings highlight the shared architectural opportunities and challenges faced both in Australia and China with supporting material including photographs, renders, sketches and video content.

CELEBRATING
AUSTRALIAN
ARCHITECTURE

The first in a series Gold+ pairs Australia’s Gold Medal architects, awarded by the Australian Institute of Architects, with diverse interviewers who will explore the inspiration and motivation of architects designing the future.

2020 marks the 60th anniversary of the Australian Institute of Architects Gold Medals, the highest award in architecture in Australia honoring the architects whose design vision has helped form a nation. Gold+ reflects on the work of the contemporary Gold Medalist’s, pairing the architects with colleagues, critics, presenters and writers, clients and even family to create a dynamic series of conversations that give us insight into the inspiration and motivation in designing the future.  Much of the work of our award-winning architects was designed and constructed in times of political and economic stability, but what insights and advice can the Architecture Gold Medalist’s offer during global pandemic?
